In an answer to decades of prayer, in October of 2005 the Oratory was erected by Bishop Robert W. Finn as the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese exclusive Latin Mass church and a priest from the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest was appointed as the pro-rector of the Oratory. The Oratory was given the rights to maintain a sacramental registry and to enroll parishioners as all other parishes in the Diocese are empowered. All sacraments, including: Baptism, Confirmation and Marriage will be given in the traditional rites according to the liturgical books of 1962.
