Corpus Christi 2012 Apostolate Celebrations

Corpus Christi

Since its institution by Pope Urban IV in 1264, the Feast of Corpus Christi has been one of the most resplendent of the feasts after Pentecost, partly because of the customary Eucharistic procession which has come to be associated with this feast. As our present Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI explains in his Corpus Christi homily this year: "The sacrament of Christ's Charity must permeate the whole of daily life." The Holy Father tells us that we must make perceptible "Jesus' constant presence in our midst and with us, a presence that is tangible, close, in our homes, as the 'beating Heart' of the city, of the country, and of the area."

As these representative photos from the Institute's apostolates show, there is indeed a common thread which run through this feast! Regardless of our geographic location, adoring hymns, fragrant incense, and fervent hearts accompanied the Blessed Sacrament as It led the faithful along city streets strewn with rose petals and bended knees.

From St. Anthony in New Jersey to St. Margaret Mary in Oakland, from Kansas City, St. Louis and Chicago, not to mention Wausau and Green Bay and Tucson—the Blessed Sacrament is worshipped and adored on the Feast of Corpus Christi. At every locale, this feast inspires us and helps us make known to the world that Jesus Christ is truly present in Blessed Sacrament, and is adored in our hearts and in our daily life.
