In October 2011, His Lordship, the Right Reverend Mark Davies, Bishop of Shrewsbury in the United Kingdom, asked the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest to open the beautiful church of Ss. Peter Paul and Philomena, which is located in the seaside city of New Brighton, Wirral. This is the first shrine church in England to be dedicated to the celebration of the Mass and Sacraments according to the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.

Known as the "Dome of Home" because its large green dome was a visible sign of home to the sailors at sea, this landmark church had closed its doors in August 2008. Since its erection as a shrine church by Bishop Davies in October, 2011, it had taken many months of repair work to make it suitable for the celebration of Holy Mass at its High Altar. This first Solemn High Mass was offered on Saturday, March 24, 2012, by Monsignor Gilles Wach, Founder and Prior General of the Institute, in the presence of His Lordship, Bishop Mark Davies.

One year later, this Shrine church and its spiritual community have made significant progress through the aide of divine grace. Remaining open all day for prayer and visits to the Blessed Sacrament, the church welcomes the faithful each day for Holy Mass and Confessions. The Divine Offices of Lauds and Vespers are frequently chanted, and Eucharistic Adoration with Benediction is offered each day from 6pm to 7pm.
