Girls Camp in Wisconsin

The annual Girls Camp in Wausau, Wisconsin, was a remarkable success.  Nearly 120 girls between the ages of 10 and 17 years old came to this unique camp which offers numerous graces such as daily Mass, rosary, and the opportunity for confession.  Also present were four canons of the Institute who gave spiritual talks on the four Evangelists and encouraged the young campers to continue the growth in virtue.

Throughout the week, the teams competed valiantly and charitably in various sports, relay races, and, perhaps the most competitive of all, the cooking contest.  The Camp, rooted in Christian charity, allowed these girls to practice the virtues.  Soon, this year’s campers will become young women, who, strengthened by the Catholic Faith, will be ready to devote themselves to Holy Mother Church by devotion to a family or, perhaps for some, by a vocation as a consecrated religious.

Account by a young participant, Geneviève, age 10:

I liked my first year at Girls' camp. I had a fun time with the horses and I'm always wondering which team I will be on next year, and who will be on my team. Every morning after Mass the canons gave a talk on the Gospel writers. They also explain to us how some of the martyrs died. My counselor and team captain shared some of their camp experiences with us.

I also liked the concert on the patio, the skits, and the campfires. It was my first time sleeping outside in a tent. It is something I will look forward to every year!
