On Sunday, September 22, 2019, St. Mary Oratory warmly welcomed His Excellency, the Most Reverend Bishop David Malloy for the celebration of the confirmation of 22 new recruits to the Army of Christ. Bishop Malloy’s sermon called the newly confirmed to imitate their chosen saints in the path of holiness, a challenge that the sacrament would give them the special graces to accomplish. After the conferral of the sacrament of confirmation, a Solemn High Mass was celebrated by the Institute’s Provincial Superior, Canon Matthew Talarico, with Canon Benjamin Coggeshall (former rector) and Canon Luke Zignego (new rector) serving as deacon and subdeacon. A reception followed in the Saint Joseph church hall where Bishop Malloy cordially greeted the confirmands’ family and friends along with other St. Mary parishioners. On behalf of the Institute’s Canons serving in Rockford, Canon Talarico thanked Bishop Malloy for his spiritual paternity and leadership, and assured him of the community’s continued prayers.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Thy faithful. Enkindle in them the fire of Thy love. Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created, and Thou shall renew the face of the Earth.
