2019 St. Joseph Oktoberfest in Detroit

Sunday, September 22 was the 14th annual St. Joseph Oktoberfest. The festival consisted of numerous events and activities both outside and inside of the church. Indoors included a Solemn High Mass with St. Joseph Cappella and Orchestra (Schubert's Mass in G) preceded by a Music Prelude (Vivaldi's Magnificat), two church tours, a Classical Concert, and Vespers. Under the big tent, guests enjoyed Siasswasser Tanzlmusi and G.T.E.V. Edelweiss Detroit, the third annual Steinholding Competition for Women and Men with presentation of the Steinly Cup, Notre Dame Preparatory Jazz Band, and Billy & Fast Forward Entertainment. Among the numerous delicious food and drink options were a full German dinner, currywurst, bratato, strudel, pretzels, and an assortment of Bavarian beers. The children had a great time with face painting, pumpkin painting, and games, while people of all ages took turns with fowling and corn hole. Rounding out Oktoberfest Sunday was the Silent Auction, Raffle, Attic Treasures, German clothing, parish gifts, and vendors. The evening before, Saturday, September 21, was the inaugural Preview Party, including trivia, live music, brats and beer, and games. A huge thanks to all sponsors, volunteers, and friends new and old who joined the festivities and participated in the ongoing Historic Renewal of St. Joseph Oratory! Deo gratias!
