Much progress has been made over the last two months. Key updates include:
* The design development work is progressing well! Barrientos Design conducted a thorough analysis of the building code and life safety systems in relation to the existing conditions of the facility with design development updates shared at the end of June. We continue to further define the spaces and the finishes for each of the spaces.
* In addition MSA Engineering, a LEED®-credentialed green design firm, was selected as our engineering partner for the redesign of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems. Onsite visits were completed to research into the details of the existing systems. MSA prepared detailed mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) scopes of work allowing the team to move forward with bid solicitation for MEP partners.
* Bid solicitation invitations for MEP partners were published at the end of June as planned with proposals submitted mid-July followed by budget updates. Our goal is to have all proposals solidified by the end of July in collaboration with the architectural team, for completing the design development.
* Budget updates based on the above progress indicate that the Phase I project is on track with budget expectations.
* The project team is also working through a detailed project schedule to stay ahead of procurement of specialty items and long-lead-time materials.
We are on track to have construction documents ready for permitting by mid-August in order to start construction this October!
