Thanks be to God for the wonderful summer camps led by the Institute in both Wisconsin and California this July! Over the weeks, boys and girls of all ages came together to grow in faith with fun. Hear some of what they had to say about their times at camp.
Summer Camps in Wisconsin
St. Theresa Camp for Young Girls - Gianna, 11 yrs old
I love camp! The activities and games are fun. There are many things we do like Mass, campfires and crafts, including making our team banner. I have made so many friends. It's awesome that the Abbe's, Canons and Sister's are there too.
Immaculate Conception Camp for Young Ladies - Marcela, 17 yrs old
Being my last year at camp, I realised just how much I’m going to miss it. Whether we were singing songs at the campfire, being very competitive in tug-of-war, or even just running to lunch, the enthusiasm and team spirit was enough to put a smile and laugh on anyone’s face! Love everyone that makes it possible and I’m looking forward to being a counselor!!

St. Dominic Savio Camp for Young Boys - Andrew, 12 yrs old
Camp was fun thanks to Justin Hanners, the Abbés and the Canons! Well, except I was homesick. I liked the sports and it was my first year at the Saint Dominic Savio boys camp and I was captain of red team. I especially liked the rosary walks and the flag raising and lowering. It is great for making great pen pals and whenever I was homesick some of the boys would come up to me and comfort me which I thought was really nice. I liked the tug of war, dodge ball, and human croquet. The fastest man was fun even though I was fourth place. The tents were great! My team was spraying themselves down with mosquito spray and I didn't spray myself down and I only felt 3 throughout camp. I can say that those tents were nice and mosquito proof. Line up in the morning was fun too. I liked putting my camp shirt on, my bandana, and my name tag in the morning. My team was wonderful! I liked them all and at the end of camp I knew every kid in camp. Thank you, Institute of Christ the King, for all the fun!
St. Michael Camp for Young Men - Felix, 17 yrs old
It is a great place to grow as a young man, meeting like-minded Catholics. Especially beneficial for advancing in virtues is the fact that all the spiritual talks are directly aimed at young male adults.

Father-Son Summer Camp in California

The theme of this year’s camp was “The Evangelization of the British Isles.” We focused on the great heroes of the Catholic Church in countries like England, Ireland and Scotland, such as Saint Augustine of Canterbury and Saint Patrick.
All the young men who attended displayed a great joy and enthusiasm for the events and games, sportsmanlike conduct, and edifying piety.
The fathers, too, were able to have true fraternity among themselves and enjoy several days away with just themselves and their sons in the beauty of God’s great outdoors. None of this would have been possible without the generous dedication of the visiting clergy, seminarians and volunteers.

Read the thoughts from a grandfather and grandson who attended St. Michael's Patrol father-son camp:
Last year, my grandson and I drove 640 miles from Boise, ID to Livermore, CA to attend our first St Michael's Patrol Camp with the ICKSP. We had second thoughts about going because of the distance but were very glad that we did. When camp was over my grandson, Daniel, was sad and said he was already looking forward to the next year.
Well, we did it again this year and somehow it turned out to be even better than the year before. Canons Norman, Fehrenbacher and Ueda along with Abbés Raymond and Teague were absolutely fantastic and it was very obvious that they truly care for and love the souls of all the boys. Teamwork, competitions, night skits, games, mass, Rosary walks, singing at the campfire and classes every day kept the boys focused on our Lord and Savior during the entire time. There were a lot of laughs and real comradery amongst the boys. It was truly a special experience and we're looking forward, again, to next year! If only it were a day or two longer....

I really enjoy St. Michael's Patrol. It's great to spend time with other boys who have similar beliefs who can relate to me. It was a great experience and I look forward to going again next year.
