We have been very blessed by the visit of our beloved Bishop, the Most Reverend David L. Ricken, who conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 34 of our young faithful at St. Patrick’s Oratory in Green Bay on the Feast of St. Francis de Sales, January 29, 2017. We are profoundly grateful and appreciative to His Excellency for administering the sacrament which has made so many more soldiers for Christ. Likewise, we were extremely honored that His Excellency joined us for the reception and banquet which followed the Liturgy.

On behalf of His Holiness, Pope Francis, the Archbishop of Milwaukee, the Most Reverend Jerome Listecki, conferred upon Abbé George Baird, clerical oblate of the Institute, the papal medal Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice.” This decoration of honor by the Holy See was bestowed upon Abbé George Baird in recognition of his outstanding work as the project manager for the restoration of Saint Stanislaus Church in Milwaukee.

On Saturday, November 12, the clergy and faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory were honored by the presence of His Grace the Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of Saint Louis.  His Grace conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on 42 youth and 3 adults.  He was assisted by Canon Jean-Baptiste Commins and Father Eric Kunz as chaplains, and by Canon David Silvey and Abbé Alex Barga as masters of ceremonies.  Reverend Canon Matthew Talarico, provincial superior, and Reverend Canon Michael Wiener, rector of St. Francis de Sales Oratory, were present at the ceremony.

His Excellency Most Reverend Gerald Kicanas, Bishop of Tucson, Arizona, visited St. Gianna Oratory and Holy Family Parish for Confirmations.   The Confirmations and Low Mass of a Bishop took place on Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00p.m. During this ceremony the Bishop administered the sacrament of confirmation to 30 people. The ages of those who were confirmed varied between 11 and 84. This included Mrs. Alberta Sasaki who recently converted to the Catholic Faith.

After a much-needed refreshing rain on Friday, God blessed the day of Confirmation with a California-blue sky. On Saturday October 15, forty-one candidates received the sacrament of Confirmation from His Excellency, the Most Reverend Michael C. Barber, SJ, Bishop of Oakland, at St. Margaret Mary Church, Oakland.

Confirmations for Chicago Shrine Faithful

The Most Reverend Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Chicago, conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation upon fifteen young people from the Shrine of Christ the King on Saturday, October 22. This sacramental celebration took place in the spacious St. Thomas the Apostle Church located near the fire-damaged Shrine (special thanks to the pastor, Father Elias O’Brien O. Carm). Following the Confirmations, Bishop Perry celebrated solemn Pontifical votive Mass in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary with Renaissance choral music and Gregorian Chant.

In 2016 St. Stanislaus Parish and Oratory in Milwaukee has a lot to celebrate!  Another major step in the Church renovation was completed: the Sanctuary received its stained glass windows, ceiling art and statues were redone, the high altar was restored, and a new marble altar rail was installed.

Infant King Returns One Year After Fire

On the first anniversary of the fire at the Shrine of Christ the King, hundreds of faithful and friends gathered for a day of prayerful thanksgiving and expression of hope for the ongoing rebuilding. This event welcomed home the freshly restored statue of Christ the Infant King, the 17th-Century spiritual centerpiece of the Shrine which had endured some damage from the fire and smoke. The King has returned!
