On Thursday, December 22 at 6 a.m., Canon Avis continued our parish's tradition of celebrating a predawn "Rorate Mass" by candlelight in honor of Our Lady.
“Rorate” comes from the Introit of the Votive Mass of Our Lady during Advent:
“Rorate, caeli, desuper, et nubes pluant justum, aperiatur terra, et germinet Salvatorem.”
“Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour.”
This year's, for the first time, was a High Mass.
