A Warmest Welcome Canon Bryan Silvey to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Oratory!
Dear faithful of Immaculate Heart of Mary Oratory, Very grateful for your continual support of the Institute’s mission in the Diocese of San Jose, I am happy to announce good news for your community.
Having already obtained the permission of Bishop Cantu, I am glad to inform you that at the recent Chapter meeting of the Institute at our Motherhouse in Gricigliano, Italy, it was decided that Canon Bryan Silvey is now assigned to serve as Vicar of the Oratory under the direction of Canon Raphael Ueda, who remains as Rector. Canon Bryan Silvey will be arriving in San Jose this week so that you will be able to meet him next Sunday, September 28.
Thus, Canon Silvey will be with you daily during the upcoming vacation of Canon Ueda in his native Japan from September 29 through October 15. Since his priestly ordination is 2021, Canon Bryan Silvey has served for one year in Rome and also as vicar for three years at St. Gianna Oratory in Tucson. He is a native of Kansas City, Missouri, where he served Mass as an altar boy during his teenage years at the Institute’s Oratory of Old St. Patrick.
Canon Bryan Silvey has an older brother priest, Canon David Silvey, who serves as Rector of St. Leo’s Oratory in Columbus, Ohio. One of the Canons’ sisters is a religious Sister Adorer in the female branch of the Institute, Sister Marguerite Marie. Very glad that our Prior General is able to send Canon Bryan Silvey to serve in San Jose thanks to yours and to so many prayers and sacrifices for priestly vocations over the years, I look forward to my next visit among you.
