Dear Faithful,
Thou art beautiful, O my love, sweet and comely as Jerusalem: terrible as an army set in array!

These words from the Canticle of Canticles are beautifully applied by the Church, in her Divine Office, to Our Blessed Lady. Because of Mary’s preeminent sanctity and fullness of grace from the very first moment of her existence, a most happy effect of her Immaculate Conception and accorded to her by Divine Providence in view of her unique privilege as Mother of God, she was always pleasing to her Lord, accumulating, without ceasing, a wondrous treasury of merit throughout her earthly sojourn on behalf of her children in the Church.

As our Queen and Mediatrix of every grace we receive from her Divine Son Jesus, it is to her we must turn, to easily obtain the Divine Assistance we most desperately need in our contemporary epoque of modern paganism, for it has pleased God to so establish this crucial role of Mary in the Economy of Salvation.

Mary’s power with God is so great, that she truly terrifies the Father of Lies and Heresies, the Devil, who can only freeze in awe as she advances like a relentless army in full armor! For thou alone hast slain all heresies, as the Church exclaims again in the Divine Office.

She crushed the powers of Satan in her Immaculate Conception (Dec 8), in her Nativity (Sept 8) and at the Foot of the Cross, through the offering she also made of her Divine Son in reparation for the sins of mankind; she has crushed the military forces of evil, especially at Vienna (Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, Sept 12) and in the naval Battle of Lepanto (October 7).

Our Lady has made it clearly manifest that is through her Holy Ro-sary that we will most efficaciously obtain her succor and inter-cession, and victory over evil.
St. Dominic successfully coun-tered the pervasive Albigensian heresy through preaching the importance of the recitation of the Rosary among the faithful, as Our Lady commanded; and the victory of the very outnum-bered Christian Princes at Lepanto can only be explained by the rosaries offered on their behalf for the Christian Faithful at the command of Pope Pius V. In our own day, we too are called to recognize once again the privileged power of the Rosary and renew our commitment to praying it at least once a day. Do not forget that a plenary indulgence may be obtained if the Holy Rosary is recited in a church or public oratory or in a family!
