Dear Faithful,
Blessed Feast of Christ the King! Christ conquers, Christ reigns, Christ commands!
“By public adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed and by solemn processions, men unite in paying homage to Christ, whom God has given them for their King. It is by a divine inspiration that the people of Christ bring forth Jesus from his silent hiding-place in the church, and carry him in triumph through the streets of the city, so that he whom men refused to receive when he came unto his own, may now receive in full his kingly rights.” - Pope Pius XI, Quas Primas, 1925
Thus will be the highlight of our liturgical celebration today - Eucharistic Procession with Our King! As we seek to touch many hearts through this important ritual, let our own senses, as they delight in such splendors, be reawakened to the awe and adoration for the Real Presence that we must always seek to preserve without letting it be numbed by familiarity.
Let it inspire us to reflect on ways each of us may improve on proper reverence towards the Blessed Sacrament, whether it’s making a better genuflection when entering church: a good, simple, but proper genuflection, or seeking ways to practice better silence in church: making sure your phone is off, and whispering only when necessary.
What a good and merciful King we have, Who graciously grants us an audience every time we go to Mass! May we remember that He wishes to reign not only in every tabernacle, but in every one of our hearts, so that He can process in love and triumph everywhere we go! Live Christ the King!
In Christ the King and the Virgin of Guadalupe,
