INSTITUTE HOME

St. Louis SEEK 2023

From Monday, January 2nd until Friday January 5th, several Institute canons, oblates and oblate candidates manned a booth at Seek 23, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) annual convention in Saint Louis, Missouri.

This was the Institute’s first time participating in this event which drew over 19,000 attendees from all over the United States and the world. It was an opportunity for many young people to encounter the Institute for the first time and learn about its mission to establish the reign of Christ the King in every facet of human society. For others, it was the opportunity to meet members of the Institute and have their questions answered in person, especially those who do not have a local apostolate which serves as an introduction to the Institute’s spirituality. Many new people but also some old friends stopped by the Institute’s booth, and several of the canons were able to catch up with friends from college who also are serving the Church as her priests.  Daily Mass and Confessions were provided at Saint Francis de Sales Oratory, just a 10-minute drive from the convention, and on Wednesday a Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated for the repose of the soul of the recently deceased Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, who did so much to preserve the ancient Roman Rite of the Mass. Hundreds attended and were touched by the beauty of the liturgy. The canons and oblates were grateful to be able to spend many hours morning to night spent at this convention visiting with the students, answering questions, and encouraging all to live the truth in charity.
