2019 First Communion at St. Francis de Sales Oratory

On Sunday, May 12, 2019, the faithful of St. Francis de Sales Oratory in St. Louis gathered to celebrate the First Holy Communions of 17 children at the 10:00am Solemn High Mass.  The children processed with lit candles into church behind rector, Canon Michael Wiener who celebrated the Mass with Canon Francis Altieri as deacon and Abbé Alex Barga as sub deacon.  Much anticipation of this most joyous occasion from the First Communicants was felt, as they sat with family and friends in designated pews near the front of the church.  Canon Wiener gave a sermon directed to all, but specifically to the First Communicants, about the Most Holy Eucharist and how it is to be received by all:  the perfect and imperfect.  The First Communicants approached the altar rail together and received, for the very first time, our Lord's Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in this most holy sacrament.  Truly, this most happy day, God willing, marked the first of many Holy Communions!  The First Communicants processed out of the church with their faces glowing with joy and the occasion was culminated with pictures with the clergy and gifts presented to the First Communicants by Canon Wiener.  This was a most happy day to remember for all!  Deo Gratias!
