Confirmations at St. Gianna Oratory in Tucson

10 years have gone by since the founding of our beloved St. Gianna's Oratory here in Tucson with countless graces conferred on souls through the Sacraments conferred in the Extraordinary Form. This 10th anniversary was doubly marked by the recent Confirmations conferred by Bishop Emeritus Gerald Kicanas on Saturday, October 6 and by the first visit of our recently appointed bishop of Tucson, His Excellency, Edward Weisenburger on Sunday, the 7th of October.

On October 6, following his sermon on the importance of living and witnessing our holy faith, Bishop Kicanas celebrated a pontifical Low Mass.  He was then received by many faithful in the parish hall with deep gratitude for welcoming the Institute 10 years ago and for conferring on many young adults the Sacrament of Confirmation once again.

Then on Sunday, as the external solemnity of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, Bishop Weisenburger assisted at a beautiful Solemn High Mass, celebrated by Canon Talarico and assisted by Canons Avis and Fehrenbacher.  His Excellency preached on the “Fiat” we all must make like our Lady in following God's will by responding generously and humbly.  Bishop Weisenburger was also warmly received in the social hall as we gathered to welcome him to St. Gianna Oratory.  During the reception, our children's choir, under the direction of Abbe Juneau, beautifully sang several pieces to honor our Blessed Mother in this month of the Holy Rosary.

May God be blessed for spiritually nourishing our small “miracle in the desert” (as Cardinal Burke fondly calls the Oratory).

Ad multos annos!
