In 2016 St. Stanislaus Parish and Oratory in Milwaukee has a lot to celebrate!  Another major step in the Church renovation was completed: the Sanctuary received its stained glass windows, ceiling art and statues were redone, the high altar was restored, and a new marble altar rail was installed.

Infant King Returns One Year After Fire

On the first anniversary of the fire at the Shrine of Christ the King, hundreds of faithful and friends gathered for a day of prayerful thanksgiving and expression of hope for the ongoing rebuilding. This event welcomed home the freshly restored statue of Christ the Infant King, the 17th-Century spiritual centerpiece of the Shrine which had endured some damage from the fire and smoke. The King has returned!

New Oratory in Detroit

At the invitation of His Excellency, the Most Reverend Allen Vigneron, Archbishop of Detroit, the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will establish a new Oratory at St. Joseph’s Church in Detroit.

The new Rector will be Canon Michael Stein, who will be assisted by Deacon Jonathan Fehrenbacher.

On Tuesday, June 14, the Institute’s Prior General, Monsignor Gilles Wach, visited St. Patrick’s Oratory in Green Bay, Wisconsin. During the solemn High Mass which he offered, Monsignor spoke of the importance of prayer and union with God through the devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Confirmations at the Shrine of Christ the King

On Sunday, October 26 2014, the Solemnity of the Kingship of Christ, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Bishop Joseph N. Perry, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago, confirmed a large class of young adults. The number of Confirmandi gave tangible proof to the growing sacramental life at the Shrine of Christ the King. Most of them had already received sacraments at the Shrine as young children and they have now grown into young adults under the loving watch of the Infant King. Others, adults, had recently been baptized and received into the Church. They hail from the local neighborhood and show the salutary effect the presence of the Shrine is having in the South Side Community.

On Sunday, May 11th the Shrine of Christ the King had the grace of receiving in His Excellency, the Most Reverend Archbishop François R. Bacqué, Apostolic Nuncio & Apostolic Visitor. Both the Institute’s Prior General, the Very Reverend Monsignor Gilles Wach, and Monsignor Schmitz, the Institute’s Vicar General and Rector of the Shrine, accompanied His Excellency. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Archbishop Bacqué, celebrated a Pontifical High Mass and offered an inspiring homily on the virtue of Hope.

The Institute's Choir Camp 2014 will take place during the third week of August and will be held again in Kentucky at Mount Saint Joseph, the Motherhouse of the Ursuline Order.

At the home of the Infant King, Christmas has a most significant importance. Where His Divine Infancy is celebrated year-round, the commemoration of His birth is all the more grand. In the magnificent setting of a restoration-in-progress Church, decorated by generously donated tall, elegant Christmas trees, all three Masses of Christmas were offered publically.
